About the Role

The Director of Communications is responsible for overseeing the planning and operation of the MBA and EMBA communication channels, leading the communications sub-committee consisting of the Associate Director of Communications and Associate Director of IT, and collaborating with other functions on the board. The ultimate goal of the role is to create and deliver communications to promote brand awareness and help drive engagement.

Time Commitment 2 hours per week

Roles and Responsibilities

Task Description % of Role
Leadership Direct, coordinate​ ​and​ ​supervise​ ​the​ ​operations​ ​of​ ​the​ Communications sub-committee 20%
Channel management Release regular updates via EDM, social media, canvas and any other MBA community channels Build and track database. Use smart analytics to optimize campaigns  65%
Report Report back at the monthly board meetings 5%
Others Collaborate with other functions to send out correspondence  10%

Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interests in digital marketing
  • Excellent leadership, people management and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to think and plan strategically 
  • Current student within either the MBA or EMBA programs at the University of Sydney

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Previous experience in a not-for profit organisation  
  • Previous experience in project management 
  • Previous experience in brand awareness and/or event marketing campaigns 
  • Previous experience with Mailchimp EDM design and analytics 
  • Previous experience in social media channels, especially LinkedIn
